Old Florida Federation Announces Its Rebrand Into the HopeWill Foundation

Tampa, Fla. - (April 16, 2024) – Today, the Old Florida Federation announced its transformation into the HopeWill Foundation, ushering in a new era of dedication and determination in the fight against Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) and Nephrotic Syndrome. The HopeWill Foundation focuses on community building and giving back in meaningful ways and will leverage the success of Tampa Pig Jig to expand philanthropic efforts in Tampa Bay.

The decision to rebrand as the HopeWill Foundation stems from a desire to better reflect the foundation's mission and vision, encapsulating the spirit of hope and resilience that drives its endeavors. The name HopeWill was inspired by Will Wellman, whose ongoing journey with FSGS led to the founding of the Tampa Pig Jig.

"As we embark on this new chapter as the HopeWill Foundation, we draw inspiration from the unwavering determination and perseverance of Will Wellman, whose journey with FSGS has been a source of hope and strength for many,” said Chris Whitney, Board President. “With our continued efforts, we hope to honor Will by bringing us closer to a future where patients like him can live without the need for dialysis."

Central to the foundation's mission is its partnership with NephCure, a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing research and advocating for individuals living with FSGS and Nephrotic Syndrome. Through collaborative efforts, HopeWill Foundation aims to accelerate progress towards improved treatments and, ultimately, a cure.

HopeWill Foundation will maintain its signature event, the Tampa Pig Jig, as part of its continued outreach and fundraising initiatives. Additionally, the foundation has introduced patient socials throughout the year, providing opportunities for individuals affected by rare kidney diseases to connect, share experiences, and build community.
